Limbaugh Logic

It must really be hard to fill a daily radio show when you only have party talking points to go by. So whenever Rush Limbaugh decides to go outside the aforementioned talking points it is radio gold.

His latest rant was in response to an Italian study that claimed that the average length of the male member had decreased in size by over 10% over the past 50 years. The study went on to say that the likely causes for the decrease was weight gain around the waist, smoking, stress and environmental pollutants. Of course the rotund Limbaugh wasn’t having any of that and instead offered his own theory as to the decrease in our manhood, and get ready, he blames feminism!

“I think it’s feminism,” he declared. “If it’s tied to the last 50 years — the average size of [a male’s] member is 10 percent smaller than 50 years — it has to be the feminazis, the chickification and everything else.” “Give ‘em time and they’ll blame Bush. But air pollution vs. feminazis? Ha!”

I almost expected him to blame the gays but this is just as good.

On To Fox News?

Okay of course I am joking about Fox News but it was just announced that MSNBC has terminated the contract of Keith Olbermann and that tonight’s just completed show would be his last.

No word yet on which party ended the contract but it comes on the heels of NBC Universal’s purchase by Comcast being approved by the FCC (MSNBC possibly making a hard right turn?) and only several months after Olbermann was suspended for making donations to a Democratic political candidate either of which could be possible reasons.

MSNBC’s statement:

“MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors”

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik Is "In The Sights" Of The Right Wing Hate Machine

The man who criticized the tone of our political discourse in the wake of the Arizona mass murders, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, is now feeling the full force of that politically motivated hate machine.

After calling for politicians and political commentators to tone down violent and hateful political rhetoric, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik is now experiencing himself the force of right-wing hostility and rancor. Dupnik never suggested that the deeply disturbed shooter was directly influenced by political debate, but called into question the use of vicious rhetoric and violent imagery that has become all too commonplace in political discourse today. “The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country,” Dupnik said, “is getting to be outrageous.” After facing a preliminary assault yesterday, now Dupnik is facing an all-out barrage from the Right.

Dupnik is finding out that criticizing what the media talking heads do to rile up the troops and earn ratings will ensure that the wrath of their zombie armies is brought to bear against them.

It's The Moon You Idiot!

Bill O’Reilly shows his ignorance again in his latest interview on religion/atheism using his favorite “proof” of a God. “The sun goes up and the sun goes down…the tides comes in, the tide comes out

Of course you knew Colbert or Stewart would have something to say about this and Stephen Colbert didn’t disappoint. He had astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson on to explain tidal forces for Papa Bear O’Reilly who really should come up with a few better examples if he wants to provide proof of a supreme being…you know something that science hasn’t already debunked 100’s of years ago.

Maybe he should just use the fact that people actually watch him, that’s a bit miraculous isn’t it?

P.S. – Must give a little love to Colbert for quoting the classic line in the above piece which pretty much explains the existence of all religions throughout human history.

There must be a God because I don’t know how things work.

Fair And Balanced

More fairness and balance from the only network that matters…

At the height of the health care reform debate last fall, Bill Sammon, Fox News’ controversial Washington managing editor, sent a memo directing his network’s journalists not to use the phrase “public option.”

Instead, Sammon wrote, Fox’s reporters should use “government option” and similar phrases — wording that a top Republican pollster had recommended in order to turn public opinion against the Democrats’ reform efforts.

Olbermann Is A Liberal? Really?

Apparently MSNBC is just now becoming aware that their “Countdown” host Keith Olbermann is a liberal as it is being announced that he has been placed on indefinite suspension for donating to 3 Democrats during the just finished silly season.

Of course I am kidding and from what I am reading he should have known better as NBC has has a policy that forbids employees from being associated with political campaigns. But would knowing that Olbermann had donated to Democrats actually changed anyone’s mind about how they feel about him or for that matter, any talking head on the cable networks so-called news shows?

In South Dakota we went through a similar issue earlier this year when Rapid City ABC affiliate KOTA suspended one of their news anchors, Chad Olson, after he spoke at a Tea Party Rally. Of course the difference here will certainly be that while the Tea Partiers were outraged over Olson’s punishment, the same folks will likely be piling on the Olbermann suspension.

Now if Fox only had a similar company policy maybe they would put Glenn Beck out of our misery but then Rupert Murdoch would have some explaining to do as well so I won’t be holding my breath.

Juan Williams Fired From NPR

I found it interesting that NPR felt the need to fire Juan Williams the other day for his comments on Faux News about being nervous when flying with devout Muslims. Wasn’t Williams simply expressing the feeling many xenophobes have been expressing for years? But what I find even more interesting is how many Conservatives are going ballistic over the firing with many even calling for the boycott of NPR.

Of course the interesting part isn’t the Conservative’s call for a boycott as one would have expected that, it is that they would think that folks at NPR would be worried about losing people that never listen to NPR to begin with…

UPDATE: Love it! NPR reps in Washington are reportedly getting numerous scripted calls stating that due to the Williams firing, they will never “watch” NPR again.

Obama's One Demonstrable Success

In his one plus year in office, Barack Obama hasn’t accomplished much but one thing he has done is create a successful cottage industry of talk radio Obama haters. The trade magazine “Talkers” has released their list of the top 100 heavy hitters in talk radio and 9 of the top 10 make their living bashing the President.

The top four talkers – Limbaugh, Hannity, Glenn Beck and Michael Savage – have all been non-stop, full-time critics of pretty much everything about Obama except his shoelaces and his toothpaste.

The top 10 also includes non-Obama fans Laura Ingraham, No. 6, and Mark Levin, No. 8.

In fact, advice guru Dr. Laura Schlessinger (No. 5), and finance guys Dave Ramsey (No. 7) and Lou Dobbs (No. 9) don’t much care for Obama, either.

Only Thom Hartmann, at No. 10, has had any encouraging words for the prez.

Who says Obama’s policies aren’t great for the economy? The Conservative talk radio industry hasn’t been more healthy…
