Public Spokesperson Bristol Palin Paid 7 Times More Than Charity Actually Donated

Bristol Palin’s only claim to fame is for being Sarah Palin’s daughter and getting pregnant out of wedlock. But she apparently has inherited mamma bear Palin’s penchant for making boatloads of cash without much effort as a recent report shows was paid 7 times more than the non-profit teen pregnancy group she worked for actually dispersed.

In 2009, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol joined a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie’s Foundation. Today, the Associated Press reported that the Candie’s Foundation released its 2009 tax information, revealing that Bristol was paid a salary of $262,500.

But a closer examination of the tax form by ThinkProgress shows that the group disbursed only $35,000 in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics: $25,000 to the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and $10,000 to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.

Did Rick Santorum Just Say That John McCain Doesn't Understand How Enhanced Interrogation Works?

I’d be the first to admit that John McCain isn’t one of my favorites when talking about politicians. He went from a real moderate that I could see in the White House to someone that decided to pander to the religious right while actually thinking that Sarah Palin would be a good Vice President.

One subject though that no one could say that McCain isn’t well versed in is torture, or as the Republican’s like to call it now, advanced interrogation techniques. So imagine my surprise when I read that GOP Presidential wannabe Rick Santorum said this during an interview with Hugh Hewitt:

HH: Now your former colleague, John McCain, said look, there’s no record, there’s no evidence here that these methods actually led to the capture or the killing of bin Laden. Do you disagree with that? Or do you think he’s got an argument?

RS: I don’t, everything I’ve read shows that we would not have gotten this information as to who this man was if it had not been gotten information from people who were subject to enhanced interrogation. And so this idea that we didn’t ask that question while Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was being waterboarded, he doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works. I mean, you break somebody, and after they’re broken, they become cooperative. And that’s when we got this information. And one thing led to another, and led to another, and that’s how we ended up with bin Laden.

So besides the fact that Santorum is factually wrong on what the results were from our torturing of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed as McCain himself points out, he then tries to tell us the man who went through 5 years of torture during his time as a POW doesn’t understand how it works. Really he actually said that.

McCain became so “broken” during torture he gave the Vietnamese just what they wanted, the starting offensive line for the Green Bay Packers!

Newspaper Edits Out Clinton From Situation Room Photo

One of the major criticisms of Islam has to do with the way that woman are treated and believe me I get it but rarely does one hear any of the same criticism being directed towards the more ” Christian friendly” religions. Check out the 2 photo’s below. One is the original picture taken of the situation room during the raid to get Bin Laden and the other is the same photo published in the Ultra Orthodox Hasidic newspaper Der Tzitung.

Notice any difference?

Apparently the ultra religious rag will not print photo’s of women so it proceeded to photoshop out both Hillary Clinton and Director for Counterterrorism Audrey Tomason from the picture published in their Friday addition. I guess not only should women not be heard, they shouldn’t be seen either. If you are a Hasidic Jew that is.

Mission Accomplished?

Somewhat co-incidentally President Obama announced last night that Osama Bin Laden had been found and killed in Pakistan. The co-incidence comes into play as yesterday also just happened to be the 8 year anniversary of former President George Bush’s infamous “Mission Accomplished” speech aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

I was all set this morning to write a little blurb about the “Mission Accomplished” thing but now that Bin Laden has supposedly been killed, does his death really have any significance big picture wise? Bin Laden’s followers are already vowing revenge, we are well entrenched in 2 1/2 wars with no end in sight, and American’s everywhere are being warned to be careful. Not exactly sounding like our job is or ever will be done.

The boogeyman is dead and the families of the 9/11 victims can finally get some closure. Other than that and satisfying our need for revenge, is anything really any different today from what it was yesterday?
