Just a couple of tidbits from the right-wingnut front. First South Dakota’s certified abstinence wingnut Leslie Unruh for some reason continues far beyond her 15 minutes of fame with a less than flattering article on More.com. Unruh is again gearing up her Abstinence Clearing House army for the latest anti-choice legislation that has made it onto our ballot this November. If you are unfamiliar with Unruh’s particular brand of wingnuttia, please feel to read the More article but keep a barf bag handy.
Continuing with the local wingnut news, right next door in Minnesota, they are having to deal with the own fanatic in the person of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. For those unfamiliar with the GOP Rep, her resume includes such oldies but goodies as claiming that their is no widlife in the Artic National Refuge and that the Democrats are purposefully allowing gas prices to rise so that they can force folks to move into the inner cities.
Her latest zinger might be the best of all. Bachmann is now claiming that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other environmentalists attempts to save the planet are an exercise in futility because “We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet — we didn’t need Nancy Pelosi to do that.” Yes folks she is for real…
And finally no news on RightWingNuttia would be complete without some news from James Dobson and his Focus on the Family.
Over the weekend they released a video that urged their supporters to pray for rain on August 28th so that Barack Obama’s outdoor extravaganza at the Democratic National Convention would be disrupted. Once they were called out on it by local Colorado reporters and nationally by Keith Olbermann, they pulled the video but someone was able to get a copy on YouTube before that happened.
Is it hyperbole as the clip’s producer contends? Watch and decide for yourself.
