The McCain Speech

I just wanted to post a quick hit in regards to John McCain’s speech last night. One thing he said stuck in my mind and had to do with his denial of the Obama claim that voting for McCain would result in 4 more years of President Bush. Here’s the speech:

McCain speech highlight -“He (Bush) and I have not seen eye to eye on many issues

“While John McCain has a record of occasional independence from his party in the past, last year he chose to embrace 95% of George Bush’s agenda, including his failed economic policies and his failed policy in Iraq.”

And something else that he didn’t mention last night. What does McCain think of Bush’s suspension of our Constitutional rights and his attempt to let the Telcoms of the hook for spying on us illegally?

[N]either the Administration nor the telecoms need apologize for actions that most people, except for the ACLU and the trial lawyers, understand were Constitutional and appropriate in the wake of the attacks on September 11, 2001. […]

We do not know what lies ahead in our nation’s fight against radical Islamic extremists, but John McCain will do everything he can to protect Americans from such threats, including asking the telecoms for appropriate assistance to collect intelligence against foreign threats to the United States as authorized by Article II of the Constitution.

Lets tally things up. McCain routinely votes for Bush’s policies, wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years, and agrees with his unconstitutional warrant less wiretapping of US citizens.

So what part of a 3rd Bush term does McCain not understand?

UPDATE – Crooks and Liars continues the McSame theme even further.
