Up until now, the bill to ban abortion in South Dakota has been kept pretty much on the back burner in the campaigning for governor. Tomorrow, Jack Billion, the Democratic candidate plans on turning up the heat when he holds a press conference regarding his position on this issue.
From A Billion for Governor Press release:
SIOUX FALLS—Democratic candidate for governor Jack Billion will hold a press conference Wednesday morning to clarify and expand on his position concerning the referral of H.B. 1215 (Measure 6), South Dakota’s abortion ban forced into law by Gov. Mike Rounds.
The news conference will be held in the second floor Law Library of the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls at 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2006.
“As I have traveled the state, talked to people, and read my emails, it appears a number of South Dakotans are not aware of my position on Measure 6,” Dr. Billion said. “I want to sit down with the press and explain why I oppose H.B. 1215 and why I think this is a tragic failure of leadership by Gov. Rounds.”
