From today’s Argus:
PIERRE – What might be the first distillery in South Dakota should be in operation by Oct. 1 in Pierre.
Tom Rounds and Jamie Rounds, brothers of Gov. Mike Rounds, have bought a building near the airport for the distillery.
Half of the building will be used to make vodka, and the other half will harbor a tent-rental business.
Tom Rounds said small bottles of vodka will be sold at the distillery, and bulk vodka sales will be made to liquor stores and bars.
A law that took effect last month allows distilleries in the state to produce up to 50,000 gallons of liquor each year, he said.
I am sure it is just a coincidence that the first distillery to open it’s doors after the law was approved allowing this type of business happens to be owned by Governor Rounds’ brothers.
Maybe I can get a tour when I am out that way working at the airport?
