His Lips Are Moving

Dick Cheney was speaking again and as usual the BS was flowing. The latest stop on his defend the atrocities committed during the last 8 years tour was at the National Press Club and a couple of things caught my eye this time around.

Topping the list was Cheney again touting the need for Guantanamo Bay. Obviously his support for this torture camp is no surprise but I found this statement to be the most telling yet as to why Cheney really wants all the prisoners kept outside of the US and the possibility of them walking our streets has nothing to do with it no matter what he or John Thune would scare you into believing like you to believe.
Cheney said if the jail had not existed, captured terrorists would have had to have been brought to the United States where they would have legal rights denied to them at Guantanamo.

Keep them out of our country so that we can pretty much do anything we want to them, finally a straight answer for why they feel the need to keep Gitmo open! (though isn't a US military base actually US soil?) And speaking of straight, Cheney also had some choice and un-Cheney like words on gay marriage.
"I think, you know, freedom means freedom for everyone," Cheney said in a speech at the National Press Club. "I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish."

Okay so if you disregard for a moment Cheney coming out in support of freedom "for everyone" in the same speech he is advocating withholding it, where was this sentiment when he was President had the President's ear? Or did it just take his openly gay daughter Mary this long to get him to come around...

Stay tuned, Cheney is writing a book so we still have a lot more of him to deal with before he fades into history. What will he say next?
