Tax Break Repeal On Ethanol Shot Down

I was quite surprised when Sen. Jerry Apa introduced a bill that would repeal the 2 cent a gallon tax break on ethanol blended fuel. Why would a South Dakotan want to do something that would endanger our major cash crop in the form of highly subsidized corn based ethanol?

Based on testimony from ethanol industry officials (gee who would have thought they would oppose this?), SB110 died in committee by a vote of 6-3 so we can all breathe a sigh of relief and fill up with our highly government subsidized ethanol blends without worrying about paying more taxes in one of the least taxed states in the country.
