Abortion End Around?

While the South Dakota legislature again contemplates banning abortion, several other states are using different tactics. I missed this when it first came out last week but Colorado is looking to ban abortion by not banning abortion as a procedure but instead by giving fertilized eggs person hood.
The Colorado Supreme Court cleared the way Tuesday for an anti-abortion group to collect signatures for a ballot measure that would define a fertilized egg as a person.
Interesting tactic that could have far reaching effects and would be a religious right utopia because as the article suggests it could not only prevent any and all abortions, but might also translate to other controversial issues.
Wittneben and others said the measure would have would hamper in-vitro fertilization and stem cell research and would effectively ban birth control.
I'm surprised our local zealots Roger and Leslie hadn't come up with this tactic, it seems to be right up their alley.
