In Good Company?

The United States is now in the same company with Iran, North Korea and Burma. We are one of the few remaining countries that still produces landmines with the announcement that the first new mine in 10 years is now in production.
Scott Stedjan of the U.S. Campaign to Ban Landmines says continuing to develop these weapons is irresponsible. "A weapon should be detonated by a conscious action of an individual," says Stedjan. "If it's not, children can walk into the minefield and be blown away. Innocent civilians can be blown up."

Just the kind of weapon we need for the house to house fighting in and amongst civilians that our troop's mission almost exclusively entails...
